La
Recetoteca
The La Recetoteca website is designed for people who love cooking and want to upload their recipes or create their own recipe book. Like a social network of recipes.
Project carried out for the certificategeithereithergland by UX Design.
Made in the program Adobe XD
The intention with this project was to demonstrate the use of Adobe XD as well as to develop the entire development process from research to the final prototype.
The problem
We are constantly searching for recipes on Google or YouTube, clicking on the first link that appears, and when months later we want to do it again, we don't remember where it was or what it was. The Recetoteca seeks to solve that.
The objective
Create a website that serves as a recipe catalog, being able to assemble your recipe book according to recipes that suit your cooking style and tastes.

01
Understanding the user
I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand users and their needs. One of the main user groups was amateur cooks who, without being professionals, can have their own recipe book.
This group showed that there was a big problem not so much in finding recipes, but in remembering those recipes later. Users made recipes that they found here and there but they did not have a place to bring them all together. Another drawback was the multitude of versions for each one, not knowing how to choose the most correct one.
02
Initial designs
Spending time writing iterations of each application screen on paper ensured that the elements incorporated into the digital wireframes were adequate to address user pain points. For the home screen, I prioritized a quick and easy ordering process that would help users save time.
As the initial design phase progressed, I made sure to base the screen designs on feedback and findings from user research.
From the digital wireframes I created a low-fidelity prototype. The main user flow I connected was the recipe search and choice, and the option to save to the cookbook, so the prototype could be used in a usability study.

03
Refining the design
Much importance has been given to the visual. Food should enter through the eyes first. In addition, everything is categorized to facilitate the search.
Navigation was the point that was tweaked the most, making it more intuitive and easier to use, with more striking controls and more organic transitions. Also the visual section and interactivity.
The final high-fidelity prototype featured cleaner user flows for searching for a recipe and adding it to the cookbook. It also met users' needs for categories and profile customization.

Conclusions
Impact
The application makes users feel that La Recetoteca really thinks about how to meet their needs. A quote from user comments:
“I use the website and it feels so simple and intuitive that I think it would be perfect for my mother, who is older and not very good with technology. He would surely love it.”
The learned
While designing the La Recetoteca website, I learned that the first ideas for the application are just the beginning of the process. Usability studies and peer feedback influenced each iteration of the website designs.
